Meet the Horses Who Change Lives
Our herd is the foundation of every session, every smile, and every breakthrough.
Each one brings unique strengths, personality, and heart to Riding Unlimited.
I’m Chica, a registered Quarter Horse. I started my career as a cutting horse before spending time doing ranch work. Later, I enjoyed a quieter life relaxing in the pasture until I found my way to Riding Unlimited. I’m cousins with Sienna, but don’t expect us to act alike! I’m pretty selective about both my friends and my treats, but kids? They always manage to win me over.
Some people call me the Barbie Pony, and honestly…I don’t mind! I spent years carrying my owner on peaceful rides around the farm while her granddaughter took me eventing. Out on cross-country, I definitely had a need for speed! As we both got older, I traded galloping through fields for a slower-paced life at Riding Unlimited, where I can share my experience with riders of all abilities.
I’m Powerplay, the resident miniature horse and one of Riding Unlimited’s longest residents. I’ve been here since I was a youngster, arriving straight from my breeder. Over the years, I’ve driven carts and even carried a saddle, but these days I prefer spa days full of grooming, colorful paint, and plenty of attention from the ground. My best friend is Tony the mini donkey, and together we’re quite the pair. Oh—and if you visit in winter, don’t be surprised by my impressive fluffy coat.
I’m Precious, a Percheron with a gentle heart to match my giant size. I once worked as an Amish cart horse, which is why you’ll notice my docked tail. These days, I’m happily retired from riding and spend my time enjoying life—and looking fabulous with my thick forelock which is often braided. Here’s a fun fact: I know exactly where my stall and pasture are, and I’m perfectly capable of leading myself between them!
I’m Sienna, a registered Quarter Horse and proud “Steady Eddy.” Before joining Riding Unlimited, I was a reining horse until navicular disease changed my path. I also have allergies to just about everything, so I appreciate everyone who helps keep me comfortable. I have a special talent for matching the needs of each rider, whether they need confidence, patience, or a quiet partner. Just don’t ask me to win any speed-walking contests—I’m probably the slowest walker you’ll ever meet!
I’m Skipper, a sensitive Paint Horse with a knack for taking care of people. During my riding career, I had an incredible ability to sense when a rider was having a seizure or losing their balance. Whenever that happened, I’d quietly come to a stop until everyone was safe. These days, I’m enjoying retirement with the mares, where life is peaceful and full of sunshine.
Hey there! I’m Spike, a Quarter Horse who traded competitive reining for becoming a star in Riding Unlimited’s Veterans Program. I’m known around the barn for my goofy personality—and for chewing absolutely everything. Lead ropes, sweaters, halters…if I can reach it, I’ll probably give it a taste! I even have baby teething toys in my stall to keep me entertained. Oh, and if there are mares nearby, you can bet I’ll be trying to impress them.
I’m Teddy, the Shire with the giant heart. I may be one of the biggest horses in the barn, but underneath all this size I’m a complete softie. I have trained in dressage, learned to pull a carriage, and even popped over a few jumps. Today, I’m one of the barn favorites, especially if grooming brushes and treats are involved.
Respect your elders! I’m Tex, a Quarter Pony and the oldest horse on the property at over 30 years young. I may be retired now, but don’t mistake my age for slowing down my opinions—I still have plenty of those! In my younger days, I was a hunter/jumper and helped teach countless children how to ride and compete. Watching new riders learn is still one of my favorite things.
I’m Tony, the resident miniature donkey. I can be a little shy when we first meet, but once I know you’re a friend, I’ll happily soak up all the attention—especially scratches inside my ears. I came from a difficult situation before finding my forever home at Riding Unlimited. These days, you’ll almost always find me hanging out with my best friend, Powerplay. We make a pretty adorable team.
